Office Policies

At Laurel Endocrine and Thyroid Specialists, it is our mission to provide our patients with quality care while maintaining a professional attitude. As endocrinology specialists, we understand the growing need for endocrine care and we endeavor to meet the needs of this expanding field. The following office policies help us to maintain and achieve our goals.

A referral is required from your primary care provider if you are a new patient or a patient who has lost contact with our office for an extended period of time. For established patients, please contact our office to schedule an appointment.

Request for Services:
Prescription refill requests are discussed during office visits. If you need a refill on a prescription between appointments, we are usually able to process requests within two business days. If you, your representative, or a pharmacy request a prescription outside of your office visit, there may be a $10.00 charge.

Medical Records:
We strongly adhere to HIPPA regulations to maintain the confidentiality of our patients' medical records. Patient consent is required before records can be released to the patient, insurance companies, law offices, or any other entity. Please contact the medical records personnel for further information.

Billing and Insurance:
All co-pays, co-insurances and previous balances are due at check-in. A $15 service charge will be applied to your account if you are unable to make your payment in full at the time of service.  Failure to pay in full may result in your appointment being rescheduled.

Any follow-up or education appointment that is not cancelled or rescheduled 24 hours before the appointment time will be assessed a $50.00 fee. Any consultation, initial visit, hospital follow up, or in-office procedure appointment not cancelled or rescheduled 48 hours before the appointment time will be assessed a $100.00 fee.

All balances due from the patient are payable immediately. If you are unable to make payment in full, please speak to a member of our staff to make financial arrangements prior to your appointment.

Insurance is filed as a courtesy to our patients. Please bring your card with you to each visit. If you have insurance but cannot produce a valid card, you will be considered a "self pay" patient and payment in full will be expected at each visit until a valid card is produced. No insurance will be filed on services over 45 days old.

If you have any questions about our policies, please contact our staff or our billing office at: (803) 753-6313.
